Making Can Make Thinking Easier to Bear.

I have been busy making things in my woodshop during these many months of national strife and global sickness. I’m thankful that I have such a dear place to retreat. I have burned a lot of firewood keeping my little un-insulated shop space comfortable throughout the days. As a result, I have sharpened much of my old hand tool collection, organized all my supplies of wood, hardware and piles of excellent old junk. I have even completed a few projects. And, I burned a bunch more firewood down there, late into the evenings, while entertaining myself with my fiddle and guitar; I have found the hammock, slung close to the fire, is a nice spot to squeeze melodies from my concertina and stare out the window at the falling snow.

Here are the finished corbels I started several months ago. I can be slow, but I remain steady. The white corbels– a pair–will go into town to support the new portico above the rear entrance to the Handy House. The single, slightly smaller, yellow corbel was made earlier as a practice piece; it has already been installed on our house.
